As part of efforts to improve student achievement, many Minnesota middle and high schools are reorganizing their school days and school years. Class Schedule: New Approaches in Minnesota Schools reports on alternate scheduling options being used in Minnesota schools. Published by Minnesota Planning, the report explores block scheduling and extended school calendars, Minnesota’s two most common alternate scheduling options, and profiles some of the schools using them.

This is the first "Perspectives" publication, a new series designed to provide background information on critical and emerging issues. The research for this series is conducted by Minnesota Planning's critical issues team.
