Extent: 33 p., 920K, P Description:
Handbook showing geographic database developers how data accuracy can be measured and reported. Examples of how the standard has been used and helpful worksheets can be downloaded
Date: October 1, 1999
Subject(s): Science and technology
Creator(s): Minnesota Department of Administration. Land Management Information Center; Minnesota Governor's Council on Geographic Information
Publisher: Minnesota Planning (Agency).
Explains how to put a recently developed federal standard - FGDC-STD-007.3-1998 - to use in Minnesota. This handbook describes how positional accuracy can be measured and reported for databases that contain geographic features like roads, rivers and property lines. Five practical examples walk you through the process using databases developed at Minnesota Departments of Transportation and Natural Resources, the city of Minneapolis, Washington County and Lawrence Mapping. All the mathematics needed to calculate vertical and horizontal accuracy statistics are made easy with worksheets that can be downloaded from this site.
