This report, the first large-scale study of case activity in Minnesota’s juvenile courts, examines the cases of adjudicated delinquents in terms of age, sex and judicial districts. Findings show that most youths receive a disposition – comparable to a sentence for an adult – within six months of the filing of a petition and that males make up 81 percent of all juvenile court cases. An equally important discovery was that the software and design used in collecting this data appears to be insufficient for meeting the needs of juvenile justice officials.
